A journey into music by an old man, a clarinet and a dachshund
If you are reading this then I assume that you want to join up with other tuneless wonders and give up your inhibitions, wrestle with your lack of confidence and willingly make a fool of yourself then good, so am I. So the idea is to persuade some of you to come together in a local clarinet self help group to resolve difficulties with our playing by sharing knowledge and technique with an aim to comfortably play a variety of styles for our own enjoyment.
How can this be achieved? I am not particularly tech savvy but then again I'm not a wilderness 'adventurer' either but I did go hill walking for many years and never got lost. Map, compass and common sense never let me down. Mrs McLennan during covid time continued Zumba classes using ZOOM and it worked very well for them so common sense tells me ....... to install Zoom in my computer and assume that the same procedure or something similar would apply to other devices and have on-line group sessions.
A second option is to have sessions at each others houses which is fine but consideration has to be made for partners/wives/husbands also for dogs and cats that may not appreciate strangers and strange noises in the house. Other considerations are do you have a spare room of reasonable size that can be commandeered for a temporary music room and is there car parking space nearby ?
A third option and this is my favourite. I believe it is possible to hire by the hour a music room at Inchgarth Community Centre where there are car parking spaces, toilets and a cafe and it gets you out of the house for a while. There is a small charge for use of the facility but I think it would be worth it. Tell me what you think via the contact page.
